Nephrectomy is also a surgical procedure where all or part of the kidney is removed. There are two kinds of Nephrectomy: Complete and Partial.

In Complete Nephrectomy surgical method, a doctor removes the entire kidney from the recipient body and implant a new kidney from a donor inside the body of the recipient. But, during Partial Nephrectomy, a doctor removes the diseased tissue from the kidney and put healthy tissue in place of the diseased one.

The procedure of Nephrectomy is done to treat kidney cancer or other seriously diseased kidney by implanting a healthy kidney from a donor. The surgeon might perform Nephrectomy surgery with a help of single large incision in the abdomen, known as open Nephrectomy, or by small incisions, known as laparoscopic Nephrectomy.
